The issue has now been resolved and email delivery has normalized.

Further investigation revealed that the problem is related to character set configurations, causing delays on some incoming email and a small percentage to be returned to sender. We are working to resolve this problem and apologize for the disruption this is causing.

We have identified the problem as being indirectly caused by an upgrade of our spam filtering software from SpamAssassin 3 to 4, and we are currently working to resolve this.
